The Sun

joy

What it means

The Sun is the card of joy, warmth and clarity. It is one of the most uplifting cards in the deck, pointing to times when things feel bright, honest and full of energy. It is not about perfection but about openness: being seen as you are, enjoying what is good, and letting yourself feel proud and happy without shrinking. Where the Moon was uncertain, the Sun makes things plain.

The picture

A large smiling sun shines over a naked child riding a white horse, with sunflowers growing behind a garden wall. The child has nothing to hide and nothing to prove, an open, simple joy that comes from feeling safe and alive.

Upright

Upright, the Sun suggests a time of success, confidence and good energy. Things that were confusing may now feel clear, and efforts may start to show results. It favours being yourself openly, sharing your happiness and enjoying simple pleasures. Relationships, projects and health questions all tend to brighten under this card, though it still asks you to do your part. Let yourself take up space and celebrate what is going well. Warmth like this is meant to be shared, and it often grows when you do.

Reversed

Reversed, the Sun does not turn dark. It suggests joy that is dimmed, delayed or hard to feel right now. You might be too tired, too critical of yourself, or too focused on what is missing to notice what is good. Sometimes it shows a success that is real but smaller or slower than hoped. The light is still there, just behind a cloud. Small pleasures, rest and honest gratitude can help it come through again.

Love

In love, the Sun brings warmth, openness and fun. In a relationship, it points to happiness, honesty and enjoying each other. If you are single, it suggests that being openly yourself is your best attraction, and that a light, joyful connection may be close.

Work

At work or in study, the Sun favours recognition, confidence and visible progress. It is a good time to show your work, take the lead on something you enjoy, or share good news. Clear communication and enthusiasm will tend to work in your favour.

Money

With money, the Sun suggests a positive, stable outlook and the chance to enjoy what you have earned. Stay sensible: good times are a chance to build a cushion as well as celebrate. Generosity and gratitude fit this card, within what you can comfortably afford.

As a yes or no

Yes, warmly; this is one of the clearest yes cards in the deck.
